Thousands of Kildare people will be heading to Leopardstown in the winter sunshine today for a festive flutter and a hot toddy.
The four-day Christmas Festival has thrilling action on the track as well as style contests.
This year large crowds are expected due the new Luas Cross City making it possible to park at the Red Cow Luas stop and to get the Lucas all the way to Leopardstown.
Gates open at 10am and the first race is at 12.15pm.
Last year the meeting attracted around 14,500 punters on opening day.
U2's Bono and The Edge and film director Jim Sheridan usually make an appearance at the festival.
