Today father of 6 gets driving ban at Naas District Court

An unemployed father of six children got banned from driving for two years at Naas District Court.

Inspector Mel Smyth outlined how the accused was caught driving without insurance on October 2016, and a month later, also was apprehended driving without insurance.

The court heard how the accused had a previous conviction for driving without an NCT.

Defence Solicitor, Matthew Byrne, told the court how the father of six children is suffering from 'ill health.'

Mr Byrne outlined to the court how the accused is taking heart tablets and earns €535 every two weeks, to support his family.

Defence said: "I would ask the court to be as lenient as possible."

Defence outlined that the accused needs the car to get to medical appointments and transport his children to school.

Judge Desmond Zaidan imposed a fine of €500 for driving without insurance on October 2016.

For driving without insurance on November 2016, he was convicted and fined €500, and given six months to pay.

Legal aid was assigned.
