Kildare 0-8
Wicklow 0-4
Leinster Minor Football Championship round one
It's half-time here in Aughrim and Kildare hold a four point lead over Wicklow as they look to begin the defence of their Leinster crown with victory away in the Garden County.
Kildare manager Brendan Hackett was able to field three of the side that defeated Dublin in last year's Leinster final, opting to name Ciarán Kelly, Jimmy Hyland and Brian McLaughlin in the full-forward line, though McLaughin is operating out around the half-forward line.
It was the duo of Kelly and Hyland that were extremely potent looking in the early exchanges, as Hyland knocked over two points, while Kelly also raised a white flag before Conor Byrne opened Wicklow's account at the other end with a free.
Hyland has registered four points in the first half, while Kelly has pointed twice. David Kelly kicked the score of the half with a fine score after good work from Sam Doran set him up, while Doran has also blazed a point over the bar too.
Wicklow have grown into the game after a nervy opening period, but Kildare will have a slight wind at their backs for the second half.
