Kerry TD taking inspiration from works done on a Kildare road to make their own roads safer

A politician down in Kerry is aiming to make the roads in the county safer for motorists, and he is taking inspiration from a junction that he has visited in Kildare to do just that.

Unusually, it is not either of the Healy-Rae's that are on the road fixing trail, but Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin is the man that is aiming to make a junction called Ballyfinnane Cross much safer for road users.

The Ballyfinnane Cross junction is where four roads meet, and there are only stop signs on the ends of two of those roads. It has been a blackspot for accidents down through the years and many locals in Kerry are raising concerns about the increasing numbers of collisions at the junction.

Deputy Griffin said that he visited the Milemill junction near Kilcullen earlier this week, which has a four-way stop system in place. The junction was once a hazardous area for drivers, but Deputy Griffin has labelled it as a great success since it was upgraded to a four-way stop system.

"I have now called on Kerry County Council to consider putting in place a 4-Way Stop system, akin to a similarly dangerous junction that I visited this week at Milemill, Co. Kildare," Deputy Griffin said.
