Ruby Walsh landed the KildareNow Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown on Saturday afternoon as he partnered Willie Mullins- trained Burrows Saint to a half length victory in the fourth race of a packed Winter Festival schedule at the Kildare track.

Representing KildareNow, Business Development Manager Cáit O'Neill made the presentation to the winning connections: Joe O'Riordan and Mick and Steve McGuinness.

1.5 million readers

Established over two years ago, KildareNow breaking new website reaches more than 1.5 million readers every month and has more than 40,000 followers on Facebook.

KildareNow and sister title the Kildare Post - which distributes 10,000 copies across Co Kildare every Thursday - are proud to support racing at Punchestown and sponsor races at Naas and Curragh racecourses.

Pip at the post

Jockey Walsh as on board the Rich Ricci owned four-year-old for his first race on Irish soil since being brought over from France, and he did just enough to pip Gordon Elliott's Flawless Escape to the post in an exciting finish.

Further back in third was Clane jockey Mark Power on board Jetez, but the win represented a promising start under Willie Mullins for the 4/5 favourite.

In the previous race there was a fine win for the Carbury father and son pairing of Philip and Luke Dempsey, with the latter riding the 15/2 shot Coeur Joeuex to a narrow win in the Handicap Steeplechase, which was one of the biggest races on Saturday.

He finished just a head on front of the Robbie Power ridden Sumos Novois in second.

"I'm delighted. He battled well and I'm very, very happy with him," said trainer Philip following the race.

“He seemed to get the trip very well. We'll look for something similar, another staying chase and he seems to like that ground.”
