A woman who was travelling at 71km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone claimed she didn't pay the €80 fine because it was lying undiscovered in her son's box of toys.
The motorist was detected speeding on the N81 near Blessington last year.
She told Judge Desmond Zaidan: "My son came to me with the fine and said he found it in his toy box."
Judge Zaidan asked: "What was the fine doing in the toy box? Were you driving a toy car?!"
He imposed a fine of €150 and allowed a six month period to pay it.
