The organisers of a Halloween event that is taking place at the Punchestown Racecourse this month is taking a stance against the new craze of dressing up as clowns by operating a 'zero-clown policy' for the family sections of their event.

They have taken the decision following the incident this week where a man dressed as a clown entered a family home armed with an axe. The clown craze has swept across Ireland in the past couple of weeks, and it is causing plenty of people a considerable amount of distress.

The Wild Scare Fun event that is taking place on October 29 aims to make sure that children aren't afraid of any clowns at the event, by stamping them out altogether in the family section.

Event organiser, Ronan O’Kelly, had the following to say: “What has been happening in Ireland and the UK this week has really shown that people can take things too far. We want to ensure the public that we don’t encourage or condone such behaviour and therefore feel a zero-clown policy is necessary for the event this year. We want our event to be scary yes, but in a fun way, and we don’t want our customers feeling out of their comfort zone too much. There are enough clowns in the world with these fools."

The Wild Scare Fun event is an inflatable obstacle course that is suitable for all ages from five upwards and features some of the obstacles from the Wild Air Run.
