HP Inc, a major employer in Co Kildare, have refused to rule out potential job losses at its plant in Leixlip after the company announced that up to 4,000 jobs worldwide would be cut in the the next few years.

The company is a massive employer in the area, with around 4,000 staff on the books at the plant in North Kildare, making it one of the major bases worldwide for HP Inc, who employ around 50,000 people altogether.

HP Inc provides personal computing and printing services, and it's sister company, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, also has a large presence in Ireland.

There will be somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000 jobs cut worldwide over the next three years, and the company has outlined that they cannot give a country by country breakdown of where the losses will occur.

HP Inc's plant in Leixlip is mainly geared towards manufacturing, research and development, marketing, sales, and services, and the losses come after a downturn in the personal computing market.
