Revenue officers and Gardaí in Dublin managed to confiscate a massive 10 kilograms of cannabis believed to be worth up to €206,000 in two separate operations on Thursday.
One of the busts was made in Dublin Airport, while another seizure was made in an area of North Dublin.
In Dublin Airport, Revenue Officers, with the assistance of the Garda National Immigration Bureau, seized over 6kg of herbal cannabis. The drugs were discovered in the checked-in baggage of a passenger who had arrived on a flight from Madrid. The 50-year-old Malaysian man was arrested at the scene and appeared in the Dublin District Court on Friday where he was remanded in custody to Cloverhill prison.
In a separate operation in North Dublin, Revenue Officers, in conjunction with the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, seized 4kg of herbal cannabis. Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
