Kildare resident pleads not guilty to murder on Tallaght footbridge

A WOMAN and six men have pleaded not guilty to murdering 20-year-old Dale Creighton on a footbridge Dublin.

All seven, who are aged in their 20s were arraigned before the Central Criminal Court yesterday.

Dale died on January 2, two days after an incident on the Tallaght bypass footbridge between St Dominic's Road and Greenhills Road.

Charged with his murder at the footbridge are Jason Beresford (23)with an address at Castledermot, Co Kildare.

Also charged are 23-year-old Aisling Burke and David Burke, (28) with with a current address at Collinstown, Co Westmeath.

Also charged with Dale's killing are Graham Palmer, 26, with a current address at Portarlington, Co Laois, Ross Callery, 23, currently of Brittas, Co Dublin, 26-year-old James Reid, of Gorey, Co Wexford,  and Gerard Stephens, 27, currently of Grosvenor Square, Rathmines in south Dublin.

Each of the accused also pleaded not guilty to violent disorder on the same occasion.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy explained to the jury panel that the event in question occurred on New Year's Eve 2013 or New Year's Day 2014.

Mr Justice McCarthy said that the deceased and all seven accused were from Tallaght and that it was best if nobody from that area in south Dublin would serve as a juror.

He swore in six women and six men to hear the trial, which is expected to begin tomorrow and last up to six weeks.
