A generous donation from Home Event Catering for a fundraising auction in memory of the late Moggie Murray is generating some interest ahead of Saturday’s event. The ‘Downton Experience’ was donated by local caterers Sheila Byrne and Nicola Piggott of Home Event Catering, who offered a full evening meal including desserts and wine for up to 10 people.
“I can guarantee tasty home cooked food served to you in the comfort of your own home” said Sheila “but we’re not promising to wear the maid’s outfits!”
Other items up for auction include a full 2017 Annual Pass to St Conleth’s Park Newbridge for all county and club GAA matches; a framed water colour of The Square, Ballymore Eustace by local artist, Fiona Barrett; a case of white and red wine, each valued at €400.
For sports enthusiasts, there’s a feast of goods for auction: a signed Kildare Jersey including Ladies All-Ireland winning Intermediate team and for hurling fans, a signed Tipperary jersey by the McGrath brothers, Noel and John plus a Four Ball from the Hermitage Golf Club Lucan and Gowran Park Golf Club respectively.
There’s also an Overnight Stay in Tulfarris Golf and Country Club with evening meal and breakfast up for auction with spectacular views of the lakes and surrounding landscape.
The disappearance and intensive search of the late Moggie Murray resulted, sadly, in the discovery of his body in the grounds of the Old Woollen Mills, Ballymore Eustace, a devestating blow to his parents, Pauline and Johnny and sisters Shauna, Katie, Toni and Joannee.
Auctioneeer on the night will be Tom O’Rourke, a hand-baller who has claimed county, Leinster, national and world titles and thus, knew the late Moggie well.
The auction will be preceded by a ‘Walk with Moggie’ to be held on Saturday next, meeting at 6.30pm at Punchestown Racecourse, walk to start at 7pm. All ages and fitness level welcome. cost €5 per adult and children go free. Please bring torches and wear high viz clothing.
Refreshments will be served afterwards in Paddy Murphy's followed with Raffle and Auction (hosted later that night). See Walk for Moggie on Facebook or Ballymore Eustace News on Facebook for updates.
A donation will be made to Pieta House which coincidentally will be visiting Ballymore Eustace on Wednesday 12 October, to give a talk at the Bandhall from 7.30pm.
