Kildare North TD James Lawless said he will continue to lobby Minister Jan O’Sullivan on increasing primary school places in Naas.
Deputy Lawless said Minister O’Sullivan has insisted that there are adequate school places in the town.
The newly-elected Fianna Fail TD said “If the Minister spent ten minutes talking with parents looking for primary school places for their children this September in Naas she would quickly find out there are not enough places and that second class rooms are needed.
The lack of urgency from the Department will only exasperate the stress already on the parents looking for school places.
“The Minister has informed me due to a new primary school which opened in 2010 that this should be enough to accommodate pupils while on the ground it is clear the demand is there for second class rooms.
"I will continue to vigorously lobby the Minister until common sense prevails and second class rooms are opened in Naas for September 2016”.
