Kildare captain Paul Divilly has emerged as an injury doubt for the round one Christy Ring Cup game against Antrim on April 23. The versatile Confey man has been an ever present for the Lilywhites at left half-back so far this season, and was a pivotal figure as Kildare maintained their Division 2A status. Kildare hurling manager Joe Quaid confirmed last night that Divilly is at risk of missing out on the game against the Saffrons due to a hip/groin injury.

"Paul Divilly is struggling with an injury at the moment. We're carrying a few niggly knocks at the moment, but we'll be fine. Paul would probably be the biggest concern now at the moment. I think it's his hip and his groin that's causing him problems," said Quaid.

The Limerick native outlined that his captain was carrying the knock into the final game of the league against Derry, and although he thinks he probably shouldn't have played, the Kildare manager said that it was probably the most important game of Kildare's season as it secured their Division 2A status.

"As I said, to be fair, he probably shouldn't have played against Derry. We knew that, he knew that, but it was a huge game. To me it was the most important game of the year. We set our stall out at the start of the year to win the Kehoe Cup, stay up in Division 2A, and whatever the Christy Ring Cup throws up then, it throws up. That looks after itself," he said.
