Make the most of the sunshine as it isn't set to last too long today

The fine start to the morning will be a literal false dawn as the day is set to take a turn for the worse this afternoon. Kildare, and the rest of the eastern counties, have enjoyed some bright spells of sunshine all morning but that will soon grind to a halt as heavy showers are set to take hold later on.

Rain will spread across the country from the west coast, and should arrive some time later in the afternoon. Winds will be light, while highest temperatures will reach just 6-8 degrees.

This evening will see the majority of the showers pass over, leading to a dry and clear night. It will begin to get quite cold however, and widespread frost will develop as temperatures drop to -2 to 2 degrees.
