A Co Kildare man was ordered to pay €2,529 in compensation to an ex girlfriend whose property he damaged.
Naas District Court heard the defendant carried out the criminal damage to the interior of a house - including two Tv sets - in a fit of jealous rage.
Judge Desmond Zaidan was told that solicitors for the defendant and the victim were trying to agree a compensation figure to resolve the matter.
But Judge Zaidan said: "He could go to jail for his behaviour. There is still a risk of a prison sentence or a heavy fine - or both."
The case was adjourned to a later date.
