You know that banger you've been driving that still has a registration from the early 90s? The one that you can't get ensured on because it is too old and the buffs at the insurance company reckon it's a liability on the road? Perhaps you've been thinking of upgrading and cashing in on the rickety old motor to save a few hundred quid on an upgrade. It may be a wise idea not to do that so hastily.
20 years ago you would not have thought that Ford Fiestas would someday become an iconic car, but here we are in 2016, and Ford are running competitions to celebrate 40 years of the Fiesta in Ireland. To do that, they are looking to find the oldest Fiestas in Ireland, and they will congregate in Maynooth at the end of this month.
It has also been revealed that Ben Collins, who played the role of 'The Stig on Top Gear for many years, will be test driving the powerful new Ford Fiesta ST200 at the event in Kildare on September 30.
So far the response to Ford's appeal has been very good, with one Fiesta from 1978 even popping up. Considering they came onto the Irish market for the first time in 1976, it's unlikely that there will be many older Fiestas found.
People can still participate in the competition by going to the Ford Ireland facebook page.
