Gardaí in Kildare are due to hold a 'Garda National Property Recovered Day' next week in an effort to reunite locals with any property they may have lost over the last number of months.

Leixlip Garda Station will host the Kildare Property Recovered Day next Thursday September 22, where photographs of property in Garda custody in Kildare can be viewed.

While most property recovered by An Garda Síochána is immediately returned to its owners, particularly in the recovery of property stolen in the course of theft and burglaries, there are cases where An Garda Síochána is unable to identify the owner and the property remains in Garda custody.

Members of the public are invited to attend selected Garda stations, in each Garda Division, where photographs of property in Garda custody can be viewed. The public will also be able to view all images from each Division online via the Garda website www.garda.ie from the 22nd September 2016 and thereafter.

Social media continues to be a very useful tool for An Garda Siochana including Internationally. Recently a camera lost by a French National visiting Wicklow was successfully returned through social media after the owner had returned home to France.

In addition the public will be able to avail of the services of Sergeant George Doherty, Crime Prevention Officer for Kildare together with members of the Garda Victims Service Office and Divisional Scene of Crime Unit.
