A 43-year-old mother was given the Probation Act at Naas District Court this morning for shoplifting in two Newbridge stores.
The defendant is originally from Poland and evidence was given by Inspector Gerry Egan how items worth €69 were stolen at TK Maxx, Newbridge on March 19th last.
Inspector Egan said: "She was stopped by security after paying for other items and leaving without paying for some."
The court heard how the woman then admitted to stealing clothes on the same day at Marks & Spencers in the Whitewater shopping centre.
All items of clothing were returned.
The defending solicitor told the court how the accused says she suffers from a problem and that this was a spur of the moment crime.
Judge Desmond Zaidan applied the Probation Act which means no conviction will be recorded against the woman.
