The second round of CAO offers were published this morning and more than 2,500 students woke up to find that they have been offered a place at a third-level institution.
Students who missed out on their preferred courses due to not amassing enough leaving certificate points were hopeful this morning that the courses they had chosen as their top choice would have dropped by enough by enough points for them to gain entry.
A total of 1,470 people have been offered places in Level 8 courses, while a further 1,103 students were offered places in Level 6/7 courses.
There was good news for those who wish to study courses in the arts and science sectors as those were the areas where points fell the most for the second round of offers. In Maynooth University there was just one Level 8 course that dropped in points for the second round offers, with Science going from 390 points down to 380.
There has been some massive drops in entry requirements to some courses that are proving less popular than expected. Landscape Architecture in UCD has dropped by a massive 30 points frmo 315 to 285, while Arts- the biggest college course in the country- fell from 320 points to 310.
