The Information and Communications sector is the wealthiest sector to work in according to the latest figures released from the Central Statistics Office, with the average employee earning over €1,063 per week in their job.
The sector includes all IT related jobs, with positions in the area quite plentiful in availability while the number of people working in the sector is below the required level in Ireland. That has led to the average weekly wage rising by more than €100 over the last five years.
People who work in the financial, insurance and real estate sector are also likely to take home a decent pay packet each week, with the average employee receiving €1,014.66 per week. The average teaching salary has dropped below €800 per week for only the second time in the last five years, while wages in the accommodation and food services sector are still the lowest in Ireland, despite a 2.3 per cent rise to an average of €331.81 per week.
