IKEA has recalled a dangerous children's bat cape after three youngsters were injured using them.
The black LATTJO product which was on sale for €14 can cause strangulation and neck injuries, the flatpack giant said.
In a consumer warning, spokeswoman Cindy Andersen said: "IKEA urges customers who have a LATTJO bat cape to immediately stop children from playing with it and to bring it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.
"IKEA is recalling...after reports about three children that have received marks and scratches on the neck.
"The cape got stuck and didn't detach easily enough from the children's necks.
"No injuries which required medical treatment have been reported, but due to the risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck, IKEA takes precautionary measures and recalls the product."
The Swedish homeware giants, which has its only Irish store in Dublin's Ballymun, said it had a "zero tolerance" policy regarding child safety.
It added: "As an immediate and precautionary action we recall the product, but IKEA will also improve future products and thereby children's safety, by putting new requirements in place."
Those returning the capes will receive a full refund and receipts are not needed.
