The unexpected upturn in weather is sue to stick around for at least another day as temperatures remain high and sunshine spreads across the majority of the country.
It will remain dry across most areas for the rest of today with further spells of hazy sunshine. Cloudier across west and northwest counties, with the risk of a few showers but temperatures will peer towards 17-20 degrees, and best values will be over Leinster. Winds will be light variable mainly southerly, but moderate along west and northwest coasts.
It will be dry tonight with long clear spells across the country. Mist and fog will set in later, especially across the south midlands. Overnight lows of 7-11 degrees, coolest inland, with light variable breezes.
Mist and fog will clear tomorrow morning with a lot of dry weather across the country. However an organised band of showers will move into west and southwest coastal areas early on, gradually pushing eastwards, with some heavy thundery bursts through the afternoon and early evening.
Much of Leinster and even east Munster will however hold dry and fairly pleasant for the day, with some warm spells of sunshine ( risk of a shower or two later). Highest temperatures of 17-22 degrees, in mostly light southwest breezes.
