More jobs may be on the way for Kildare Town with the proposed extension of a supermarket.
Aldi wants to build a new bakery at its premises on Grey Abbey Road.
The German discount retailer has applied for planning permission to Kildare Co Council in recent days for the proposed development.
Aldi wants to build a 50 square metre single storey extension the the north side of the existing supermarket.
Changes to the car park are also planned as part of the proposed development.
The Aldi supermarket is in Kildare Town since 2009.
The German retailer recently announced 84 new jobs created in the Dublin, Louth and Meath regions.
The positions span a range of divisions including store managers, assistant store managers, store assistants and stock assistants.
The supermarket introduced the ‘Living Wage’ on February 1 this year for all entry level positions, with store assistant employees able to earn up to €13.80 per hour.
There are currently 126 Aldi stores in Ireland employing over 3,000 people.
