Weather warning issued as the weekend is set to begin with some heavy showers causing spot flooding

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow weather warning as the some parts of the country are set to be hit with high levels of rainfall overnight. The warning is in place from 6pm this evening to 6pm tomorrow evening.

South to southeast winds will be strong and gusty for the remainder of this evening, winds will veer Southwest in the south later today with gales in exposed parts.
Heavy showers will form early on tonight as a low pressure area crosses the country with some thundery downpours in parts and some spot flooding likely especially in exposed coastal areas in the Southwest. It will be very windy on the towards the south, while winds around Kildare will also be strong. Lowest overnight temperatures will fall to 13-14 degrees.

Saturday will be a blustery, showery day. Showers will be heavy or thundery throughout the day and westerly winds will be strong and gusty. Some sunnier intervals will arrive as well. Highest temperatures of 16-19 degrees will be reached between showers.
