Six people have been arrested  after Gardaí  uncovered a suspected human trafficking ring.

Up to 20 people, most of them men, were set free when gardai swooped on a house in Castletown, Co Meath.

The operation was launched after gardai stopped a Romanian man found walking along a road in nearby Nobber because of concerns over his welfare.

The man, who had poor English, told them he was being held against his will at the house.

Gardai secured a warrant and carried out the raid, where they found several people inside.

All of the suspected victims are currently being cared for in Navan and the house remains sealed off.

Their alleged captors, three men and three women, are all from eastern Europe. They were taken to Kells and Ashbourne Garda stations.
