A Monasterevin man with 47 previous convictions who appeared before Naas Court on a drugs possession charge was given the probation act today.
Evidence was given in court that the 27- year-old man was found in possession of €20 worth of cannabis.
Inspector Patsy Lennon outlined to the court how on February 7, 2015, Gardaí in Monasterevin observed a man getting out of a car.
The court heard how €20 of cannabis was found in a lunch box and that it was for his own use.
Evidence was heard that the accused had 47 previous convictions, many of which included not having insurance and other road matters.
There was one for theft and burglary.
Defence Solicitor outlined how the accused's younger brother sustained serious injuries in a road accident and was one of his primary care givers.
Judge John Cheattle took into consideration the accused's plea of guilty and that it was his first drugs offence.
He was ordered the probation act and was convicted and fined €250.
