Kildare County Council is closing the L2032 road at Two Mile House Bridge in Rosetown, Athgarvan next month.
The route will be completely shut for a four-day period between Monday, August 15 and Monday, August 29.
Specific dates of closure will be advertised in advance of the closure.
This closure is required to facilitate repair works on the bridge.
Local access will be maintained on roads adjacent to the bridge at all times.
One diversion route from Athgarvan to Two Mile House will take motorists via Kinneagh Crossroads, into Kilcullen and back towards Mylerstown Crossroads - a distance of nearly 10km.
The Council apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused to road users.
