A very talented sculptor from Newbridge is set to show-case his creations which are inspired by the local landscape in an exhibition at Kildare Town Heritage Centre this Thursday, May 2.

International artist Conor Lane is a fine arts graduate in Sculpture from the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology and he lives locally in Roseberry Newbridge.

Conor is a sculptor best known for his unique style of bog oak sculptures and handcrafts that are inspired from the landscape of Roseberry that he finds them in. Natural organic shapes both zoomorphic and anamorphic with design elements that lend themselves to the cultural history of the bog of Allen.

His sculptures come in various sizes and can take years to be fully realised from when he first finds the bog oaks. Having studied sculpture for four years in G.M.I.T, Conor also works in conceptual mediums like sound, video, instillation, performance and assemblage.  According to Conor, his work is about 'socio-political awareness and perceived differences' and he is greatly inspired by landscapes.

The Opening Night for the exhibition is taking place upstairs in the Kildare Town Heritage Centre this Thursday from 5pm to 7pm.

Entry is free of charge on the night and all are welcome to attend.
