Motorists have been warned to expect flash floods on their morning commute following heavy rainfall.
A number of businesses in the Glenn's Corner of Athy are assessing damage this morning after flood waters entered their premises last night.
Local Sinn Fein representative Cllr Thomas Redmond said: "I hope that they are back trading as soon as possible and I will make myself available to help if I'm needed."
Meanwhile AA Roadwatch is reporting that a large branch is blocking the N81 Blessington Road southbound at Hollywood Road junction.
Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area.
Elsewhere, there was a truck on fire on the M7/M9 junction last night but it was quickly extinguished by Kildare Fire Service.
