After a historic win on Saturday where he rode Tiger Roll to victory in the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree, jockey Davy Russell stopped by the Lock 13 Gastropub in Sallins for a bite to eat ahead of a hero's homecoming in Summerhill in Co Meath.
The legendary jockey, who is originally from Youghal in Co Cork, was spotted by delighted diners at the popular Lock 13 Gastropub in Sallins yesterday evening.
Taking to social media, Lock 13 Gastropub said: "Thank you very much to Davy Russell & his family for calling into us this evening for a bite to eat.. Even though he was mobbed by customers wanting to congratulate him on his historic feat, he was kind enough to pose with staff & locals for pictures... #LivingLegend #GrandNational #MakingHistory #TigerRoll #DavyRussell #Gentleman #WhoIsRedRum?

Tiger Roll raced into the history books on Saturday as he became the first horse since Red Rum to win back-to-back renewals of the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree. It's been 46 years since Red Rum claimed the first of his three victories in the world's most famous steeplechase - successfully defending his crown in 1974 before adding a third in 1977.

Trained by acclaimed trainer Gordon Elliott, Tiger Roll appeared to hold outstanding claims of claiming a second victory on Merseyside, having looked better than ever in winning his two most recent starts in the Boyne Hurdle at Navan and the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase - his fourth Cheltenham Festival win.
Davy Russell had the 4-1 favourite well positioned throughout the four-and-a-quarter-mile journey and after moving to the front, he found plenty on the long run-in to claim an historic victory over 66-1 chance Magic Of Light, while Rathvinden (8-1) was third, with Walk In The Mill (25-1) fourth.
Jockey Davy Russell, trainer Gordon Elliot and owner Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary marshalled the nine-year-old thoroughbred through the streets of the Meath village as hundreds came out in force to welcome home Tiger Roll.
