Councillor Murty Aspell has requested that Kildare Co Council consider the possibility of erecting a monument in Newbridge for the men and women who served in the army and who died in wars.
He added that Newbridge is a garrison town and has been involved with the Army for a long time.
The politician will raise the issue at the next meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District on March 20.
Cllr Aspell also asked that the Municipal District invite Irish Rail to come to a meeting and "explain why the first trains from Newbridge in the morning are leaving 10 minutes late".
The March 20 meeting will also hear calls by Councillor Fiona McLoughlin Healy for updates on whether the Water Tower could be demolished and removed in Newbridge.
