Kildare North Labour General Election Candidate Emmet Stagg has been in further contact with the Minister for Education in relation to progressing the delivery of the new 1,000 pupil St. Farnan's Post Primary School in Prosperous.
The Minister for Education previously advised Mr. Stagg that a Project Brief had been finalised for St Farnan's which will see the existing school knocked down and a new school built to cater for 1,000 pupils. This was a significant change in the Departments Plans for the school as originally it was intended to provide an extension and refurbishment of the school which would have seen accommodation provided for 600 pupils.
Last October, stated Mr. Stagg, the Department gave KWETB approval to appoint a Design Team for the project. The Minister advised Mr. Stagg on January 15, 2019, that the process of the appointment of a Design Team is currently underway.
Mr. Stagg criticised the fact that in three months KWETB have failed to even seek the appointment of a Design Team. Every week or month that goes by without a Design Team in place puts the project back even further.
In conclusion Kildare North Labour General Election Candidate Emmet Stagg stated he was 'disappointed at the delay by KWETB in the appointment of a Design team to provide a State of the Art Secondary School for Prosperous' and he vowed to continue to press both the Minister and KWETB until a Design Team was in place to move the project forward.
