Courtyard Liffey Celtics defeated reigning champions, DCU Mercy in the Hula Hoops Cup championship semi-final last weekend, 51-71 and thus, have booked their place in the final against Singleton SuperValu Brunell.
For Kildare, Allie LeClaire and Briana Green were impressive as they continue their unbeaten league form and book their places in their first Cup final appearance since 2017.
DCU had an uphill battle to climb after Green and LeClaire were on fire during the second quarter, finishing on 14 and 12 points respectively. This gave the Kildare side a solid 41-26 point lead, which they held and built on, to finish on 71-51.

We all went out and played really, really well. I know we were undefeated coming into the game against DCU, but there’s a lot of pressure on the Cup and on this game. We’re really looking forward to taking on Brunell in the final”. The victory was also a sweetener having lost out to DCU last year in the first round.
