Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers for Co Kildare, with Met Eireann warning that much of the country is in for 'frost and freezing conditions' this week with temperatures possibly dropping as low as 0C on Wednesday night.
After a cold and breezy start to the week on Monday, some frost will start to develop on Tuesday, as temperatures dip to just above freezing.
Lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees, coldest further west, with a risk of grass frost in places sheltered from the moderate easterly breeze.
Tuesday morning will see sunny spells and isolated showers at first but the showers will become more frequent as the day goes on. Some will be heavy with a risk of hail. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees and feeling cold in a moderate to fresh and gusty northeast wind.
According to Met Eireann, it will be 'cold, breezy and showery' for much of the week ahead.
On Tuesday night, showers or longer spells of rain will continue, heaviest and most frequent over the eastern half of the country. The best of any clear spells will be further west, with ground frost possible in places.
Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees with moderate to fresh east to northeast breezes.
Wednesday will be cold and mostly cloudy, with showers or longer spells of rain in many areas, but heaviest in the east. Some hail is likely with a risk of thunder.
Top temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees with moderate to fresh east or southeasterly breezes. On Wednesday night, showers will continue in the east and south, but will die out elsewhere. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 4 degrees with frost in places.
Thursday and Friday will continue cold. Some showers at times, but dry, bright periods also. But a longer spell of rain is likely to affect southern coastal counties at times.
Winds moderate, occasionally fresh, east to southeasterly. Temperatures staying below normal, ranging from 6 to 9 degrees on Thursday and from 7 to 10 degrees on Friday. The nights will be cold, with some frost in places under clear spells, but some scattered showers are likely also.
