Five men have been released without charge after being questioned in relation to the attack of a well-known Co Kildare businessman yesterday morning.

The owner of Victoria Garden Chinese Restaurant, Johnstown, Charles Tsoi, was struck several times at 1.30am, yesterday morning,  in an armed raid as he was locking up after a day's work. He was admitted to Naas Hospital and has since been discharged. The raiders took money from a safe.

Gardai pursued the armed raiders and located the five men in Blessington at 2.30am.  A Naas Garda spokesperson said that the matter is being investigated and the men have been released.

This attack comes after Charles's family were brutally attacked in an armed raid at their home in Johnstown Manor, just two days before Christmas.

His wife Amy Tsoi( 42) was at home with two  of her children Celine(14) and Gordon(7) when they realised their Wifi connection had been cut.

Subsequently a gang of armed raiders entered their home and forced the family to endure a horrifying attack.

The teenage girl was threatened with having her teeth pulled out 'one by one' if her mother did not comply with their instructions.

The terrified mother then handed over her purse, which contained a few hundred euro.

Unsatisfied by this, they marched Mrs Tsoi, Celine and Gordon, who had been playing in the living room, upstairs.

The shaken family were then taken from bedroom to bedroom while the men pulled the rooms apart looking for cash.

In Celine's bedroom, they took a small sum of money that she was saving to buy Christmas presents for friends and family.

They also took €40 from young Gordon's piggy bank - money that he had also earmarked for gifts - and his prized PlayStation.

The family were then led back into the master bedroom where Mrs Tsoi and Gordon were locked into the en-suite toilet.

Meanwhile, Celine was led through the house by the raiders. The courageous young teen was forced to walk through the broken glass on the kitchen floor so it would be difficult for her to run.

Eventually, the raiders left and the family sought help.

Gardai do not believe that last night's incident was related to the attack just days before Christmas.
