Today has started mostly cloudy, and it will remain like that throughout the morning with just a few bright spells, mainly in southern areas. Some patches of drizzle in the north and northwest, but dry otherwise. But a band of persistent rain will develop along the northwest coast late in the afternoon and will extend southwards across the country through the late evening and early night. Top temperatures of just 11-13 degrees. Moderate southwest to westerly winds will increase fresh and gusty along Atlantic coasts by evening time.
Tonight, rain and drizzle will clear southwards. Clear spells and showers will follow from the north, mainly over Ulster and Connacht. Winds will become northwesterly and will increase fresh to strong and gusty overnight. It will become cold with lowest temperatures of 3 or 4 degrees.
