Storm Callum set to hit Co Kildare at midnight with motorists urged to be careful

Kildare County Council’s response teams including roads, water, fire, civil defence are on standby to deal with the impact of high winds from 12 midnight to 9am and putting in place the clean-up operation following Storm Callum.

The Peter McVerry Trust, on behalf of Kildare County Council will be putting the Cold Weather Initiative for the county into operation to provide shelter for people sleeping rough during the severe weather conditions and the Freephone Number for this service is 1800 804 307.

Motorists are urged to continue to exercise caution on all roads when driving.

The rain will turn heavy and squally at times with isolated thunderstorms possible. Clear spells and scattered showers will follow as the rain-band clears the north coast around dawn on Friday. Lowest temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.
