Kildare North Labour General Election Candidate Emmet Stagg has lodged a submission with the National Transport Authority in relation to their BusConnects proposals for Maynooth, and has called for Buses to serve the 1,200 homes in the Newtown Road Area of Maynooth and for the Maynooth Buses to no longer have to go through Lucan.
In his submission Mr. Stagg welcomed the new W8 service which will provide a service for commuters from the Moyglare Road area of Maynooth and which will link Maynooth, Celbridge and Tallaght.
Mr. Stagg then outlined the need for a Bus Service in the Newtown Road Area by stating 'For over 5 years now Dublin Bus have indicated their interest in providing a bus turning point in the Newtown Area of Maynooth, to specifically serve the upwards of 1,200 houses in the area. A facility is available at the nursing home just over the motorway bridge on the Rathcoffey Road for such a Turning Point. It is regrettable that BusConnects has not dealt with this issue. Now is the time to resolve this once and for all to deliver a proper Bus Service to the Newtown Road Area of Maynooth'.
