A man who is alleged to have gained over €38,000 in 220 charges of social welfare fraud, appeared before Naas District Court today.
The accused, with an address in Tallaght, is facing 220 charges .
Garda evidence outlined at Naas District Court how the accused claimed social welfare payments falsely on behalf of his wife who was 'out of the jurisdiction.'
Evidence was heard that a 'number of payments were made using a false identity.'
The court heard that the amount claimed from the Social Welfare is €36,374.
The accused has been ordered to appear again before Naas District Court on November 8, next, for a Book of Evidence.
He has been ordered to notify the court of any travel outside the Republic of Ireland, as he has an ex-partner and child residing in the UK.
No objections were made to legal aid.
