The pairings for the Kildare Senior Football Championship quarter-finals were finalised on Sunday evening as Johnstownbridge became the final team to seal their place in the last eight thanks to a victory over Round Towers in the last of the preliminary quarter-finals.
The win means that they will meet Moorefield in the quarter-final, which is a repeat of the final round of the group which saw the reigning county champions win out by three points and pip Johnstownbridge to top spot.
Similarly, St Laurence’s and Naas will meet once again after the latter enjoyed a facile win over Raheens in their preliminary quarter-final on Saturday afternoon. Larries put in their best performance of the year when trumping Naas in the final game of the group to steal top spot last weekend.
Sarsfields’ win over Maynooth means that they will face Athy in the last eight, while Carbury, who edged by the challenge of Confey on Sunday, will take on Celbridge.
All four teams who finished second in their group managed to win their preliminary quarter-final, and it was likewise in the Intermediate Championship too as Nurney, Kilcock, Monasterevan and St Kevin’s all enjoyed comfortable wins over their respective opponents in the preliminary quarter-final stage.
