Former Kildare star Brian Lacey has announced his departure from the Tipperary footballers' backroom team after being involved with his native county for three years.

Lacey served under manager Liam Kearns for three seasons, helping them reach the All-Ireland semi-final in 2016, while also enjoying a good run in the league which has seen the Premier County establish themselves in Division 2.

Lacey confirmed his departure via Twitter, though Kearns is expected to stay on with the county.

The Tipperary native enjoyed six superb years with Kildare after transferring up from his home county, winning Leinster titles in 1998 and 2000 while also earning an All-Star in his first year with the Lilywhites as he helped them reach the All-Ireland final.

The defender also won two Kildare Senior Football Championship titles with Round Towers in 1998 and 2003 before transferring back to Tipperary in 2005.
